DAVID GENTLEMANDave Gentleman started his career at the tender age of 15 and a half, joining the British Royal Navy at HMS Ganges as a Junior Engineering Mechanic. Starting in the usual engineering way, chasing systems through the bilge, there on followed a full apprenticeship in steam, gas turbine, and diesel mechanical repair. This fuelled his ’we can repair that’ attitude, and thinking outside of the box to improvise.
Following service life Dave moved into sales and customer service, starting in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) world at Bovril & Marmite (got to love it or hate it!), finally ending sales at 3M’s Technical & Industrial division.
The love of boats and water never left, so he began a new career as a Navigation Inspector on the Royal River Thames. Focusing on customer service and Patrol Launch Maintenance, along with ‘lock’ systems and Lock Keeper management, this then lead to becoming an Assistant Manager at MDL’s largest inland marina (750 berths), Penton Hook.
Since arriving in Mallorca in 2006, Dave combined working in the marine industry with working in sales, specialising in engine room supplies. He has built up a good solid relationship with marine suppliers, and local marine services.
Dave’s attitude is to deliver as honestly and as quickly as possible. He is well aware of the importance of keeping the job flowing, so as to ensure the engineer has, to the best of his ability, peace of mind, knowing he is being looked after by a kindred spirit.
If you see Dave on the quays in Palma, give him a shout – he’s sure to shout back!
